The Baldwin Park neighborhood is the area between 16th and 21st Streets and between Vine and Spring Garden Streets, i.e. the neighborhood within two blocks of Baldwin Park. This two-hour walking history tour will look for remnants of the Lenape, William Penn’s Springettsbury Manor, Andrew Hamilton’s Bush Hill estate, Robert Morris’ failed canal project, the safest maternity hospital in the US in the 19th century, the locomotive factories of Matthias Baldwin, of machinists William Sellers and William Bement, the cantilevered road for the Pickering Spring factory, a tunnel for a hydraulic lift into a pipe fitting manufactory, the last granary in Philadelphia…and much more including nine buildings on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places.

Preservation Alliance walking tours utilize an audio system that transmits from a headset worn by the guide to earpieces worn by tour attendees. The equipment is thoroughly sanitized before and after each use. Tour attendees can also plug in their personal headsets or earbuds that use a standard headphone jack (Not compatible with Bluetooth or Apple earphones).
